Off-chain proposals

Off-chain proposals serve as a preliminary stage for all DAO operations proposals. They provide a structured way to gather community feedback and reach consensus before moving proposals on-chain where proposal contents are immutable. Every on-chain proposal starts as an off-chain proposal, regardless of its purpose. If you really want to create an on-chain proposal directly for any reason, please contact our admins in Telegram or Discord. Learn more about the off-chain proposal lifecycle below:

Off-chain Proposal Lifecycle

The timelines for each phase may be adjusted based on community feedback. As long as feedback is gathered and implemented swiftly, and members upvote promptly, an off-chain proposal can be converted to on-chain within a short amount of time.

1. Draft Phase (max. 2 days)

  • Proposal is created

  • Community can provide early feedback directly through the comments section or through other channels like Telegram and Discord.

  • Proposer can edit the proposal based on the gathered feedback.

  • Proposers can cancel the proposal at any time during this phase. This feature is in place in the case that the community is clearly not satisfied with the proposal and that progressing to the next phase (Voting) is futile.

  • After 2 days, editing is disabled and the Draft Phase must be finalized manually by the proposer to progress to the Voting Phase. This deadline incentivizes the proposer to ask users for feedback in a timely manner.

2. Voting Phase (max. 3 days)

  • Community members upvote proposals they support.

  • Editing is disabled during this phase.

  • The upvote threshold is currently set at 5 upvotes.

  • If the upvote threshold is met within those 3 days:

    • The proposal becomes eligible for on-chain conversion.

  • If the threshold is not met:

    • The proposal can be canceled and marked as "Rejected".

3. On-chain Status

  • Proposal has successfully entered the on-chain governance system and its contents have become immutable.

4. Canceled Status

  • Applies only to proposals canceled manually by the proposer during the Draft Phase.

  • Cannot be reactivated once canceled.

5. Rejected Status

  • Assigned to proposals that fail to meet the upvote threshold during the Voting Phase.

  • Cannot be reactivated once rejected.

Converting to On-chain

  • Only proposals in "Voting" status and that meet the upvote threshold are eligible.

  • After sufficient upvotes have been collected, anyone with 20k+ SCI can initiate the conversion to on-chain proposal.

  • Requires submission of an on-chain transaction on Base network.
