Last updated 2 months ago

To lower your voting power, SCI tokens must be unlocked from the PoSciDonDAO Protocol. Follow this step-by-step guide to unlock your tokens and reduce your voting power:

Step 1: Access the PoSciDonDAO Protocol

  1. Visit the PoSciDonDAO Protocol at

  2. Log in using your browser wallet, WalletConnect, Google mail, or email.

Step 2: Check Your SCI Token Balance and Voting Power

  1. Once logged in, click on the 'Unlock' tab

  2. You will see your locked SCI (loSCI) token balance and your current voting power displayed

Step 3: Start the Unlocking Process

  1. Enter the number of SCI tokens you wish to unlock in the provided field

  2. Click on 'Preview Unlocking SCI' to proceed

Step 4: Confirm the Unlocking Transaction

  1. Review the summary of the unlocking transaction on the pop-up screen

  2. Click 'Unlock SCI' and confirm the transaction through your wallet provider

  3. Wait for the transaction to be processed

Congratulations!

Your SCI tokens are now unlocked, and you’re ready to participate in PoSciDonDAO governance. Your voting power is determined dynamically based on the proposal type, ensuring fair and impactful participation.

When Can You Not Unlock Your SCI Tokens?

Locked SCI tokens are an essential part of the PoSciDonDAO governance system. To maintain fairness and integrity, there are specific scenarios when you won't be able to unlock your tokens. Here's an overview of these situations:

1. If You Just Voted

  • Why? When you cast a vote, your tokens are locked until the voting period ends. This ensures you can’t withdraw your voting power immediately after casting your vote.

  • How Does It Work? After voting, the system sets a "lock timer" for your tokens. You won’t be able to unlock them until this timer runs out, which ensures your tokens stay tied to the proposal during the decision-making process. The exact length of the timer is adjusted based on community-voting.

2. If You Just Created a Proposal

  • Why? If you create a proposal, your tokens are locked to show your commitment to the proposal. This prevents users from creating proposals and then immediately withdrawing their influence.

  • How Does It Work? Similar to voting, a "lock timer" is set for your tokens when you propose something. You’ll need to wait until this lock period ends before you can unlock them.

3. If You Delegated Your Tokens

  • Why? When you delegate your voting power to someone else, your tokens are locked to ensure that the delegate can fully use the voting rights you've given them.

  • How Does It Work? If your delegate is participating in governance (e.g., voting on proposals), your tokens will remain locked until their voting commitments are complete. This ensures the system remains fair and transparent.

Why Are Tokens Locked?

These restrictions are in place to ensure that the governance process is fair, stable, and protected from misuse. Whether you’re voting, proposing, or delegating, locked tokens demonstrate your ongoing commitment to the DAO’s decision-making.

If you're ever unsure when your tokens will unlock, you can check your "Vote Lock End Time" or "Proposal Lock End Time" directly in the PoSciDonDAO interface!
