What is SCI Token Unlocking?
Unlocking your SCI tokens lets you withdraw your previously locked SCI tokens from the PoSciDonDAO governance system. When you unlock your tokens:
Your tokens are returned to your wallet.
Your voting power is reduced accordingly.
You can freely transfer or use your tokens again.
Think of it like taking your tokens out of the governance vault when you are done participating in voting.
Important Things to Know About Unlocking:
⏳ Waiting Period:
You can only unlock after your voting/proposal lock period ends
If you recently voted, you must wait until the vote lock expires
If you recently created a proposal, you must wait until the proposal lock expires
🔓 Unlocking Process:
You can unlock any amount up to your total locked balance
Partial unlocks are allowed - you don't have to unlock everything
Each unlock requires a transaction fee in ETH
⚡ Emergency Mode:
In rare emergency situations, the DAO can enable emergency mode
During emergency mode, you can unlock immediately regardless of lock periods
This is a safety feature that's only used in exceptional circumstances
📊 Voting Power Impact:
Unlocking reduces your voting power proportionally
For operations proposals using linear voting: -1 vote per token unlocked
For operations proposals using quadratic voting: voting power reduced by square root of tokens unlocked
Before You Unlock:
Check if your lock period has ended (shown as a countdown timer if still locked)
Ensure you have enough ETH for the transaction fee
Consider keeping some tokens locked if you want to continue participating in governance
Remember that unlocked tokens won't contribute to your voting power anymore
How to Check Your Lock Status:
The unlock page shows a countdown timer if your tokens are still locked
Once the timer reaches zero, you can unlock your tokens
You can see your total locked balance and unlock any amount up to that total
Remember: Unlocking is a normal part of participation in the DAO. You can always lock your tokens again later if you want to resume participating in governance.
