When Can You Not Unlock Your SCI Tokens?
Locked SCI tokens are an essential part of the PoSciDonDAO governance system. To maintain fairness and integrity, there are specific scenarios when you won't be able to unlock your tokens. Here's an overview of these situations:
1. If You Just Voted
Why? When you cast a vote, your tokens are locked until the voting period ends. This ensures you canโt withdraw your voting power immediately after casting your vote.
How Does It Work? After voting, the system sets a "lock timer" for your tokens. You wonโt be able to unlock them until this timer runs out, which ensures your tokens stay tied to the proposal during the decision-making process. The exact length of the timer is adjusted based on community-voting. Prior to voting you will have to check off a box saying that you understand that your tokens will be locked for the displayed duration.
2. If You Just Created a Proposal
Why? If you create a proposal, your tokens are locked to show your commitment to the proposal. This prevents users from creating proposals and then immediately withdrawing their influence.
How Does It Work? Similar to voting, a "lock timer" is set for your tokens when you propose something. Youโll need to wait until this lock period ends before you can unlock them. Prior to voting you will have to check off a box saying that you understand that your tokens will be locked for the displayed duration.
Why Are Tokens Locked?
These restrictions are in place to ensure that the governance process is fair, stable, and protected from misuse. Whether youโre voting, proposing, or delegating, locked tokens demonstrate your ongoing commitment to the DAOโs decision-making.
If you're ever unsure when your tokens will unlock, you can check your "Vote Lock End Time" or "Proposal Lock End Time" directly in the PoSciDonDAO interface.
